I’m Joel Helbling, and I am fanatical about integration. I have a profound belief in connectivity, and I love to see people and the systems they create reach their full potential. I am addicted to discovery, and I instinctively teach anything and everything I know to anyone who needs to know what I know.
We live in a phenomenal time. The information age has been compared to historic transformations like the Reformation, the Renaissance or the Industrial Revolution. But it’s truer to say that our generation has seen not one revolution, but a succession of profound shifts in the way we perceive and interact with the world.
One of the biggest changes for businesses has been the increasing role of analytics in business decisions. There was a time when crucial decisions were made by individuals acting intuitions built up and gathered from the analog world around them. But today’s primary currency for decision makers is attention. Business have been enacting business processes with the help of computers in earnest since the sixties. The wild frontier today is the challenge in to drawing the right insight from an ever growing mountain of data. The locomotive at the forefront of this rush to intelligence is powered by the ever shrinking cost of parallelism: powerful tools are now available to any business with the desire and expertise to harness them.
I have been working on this frontier for almost fifteen years. I have had the chance to work with amazing people accomplishing awesome things. Today I am more excited about what I do than I have ever been. I’m looking forward to my next opportunity to work alongside other trailblazers.
